Canadian woman of Chinese origin arrested in Belgium on spying charge
A Canadian woman of Chinese origin who was an intern at a
Nato site in Belgium has been arrested on suspicion of spying, the Belgian
prosecutor said on Saturday.
"She is suspected of spying on
behalf of a third country and of being a member of a criminal
organisation," the prosecutor said in a statement, adding that further
details about the individual, including her name, would not be disclosed at
this stage.
The prosecutor said the suspect was
an intern at SHAPE, Nato's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, in Mons,
Belgium.
No further details about the alleged espionage activities or the country
involved were immediately provided.
